Returning Herbal Care to Nursing

Linda Russell-Getz

Linda Russell-Getz, RN, BSN, MS, owner of InTandem Wellness, has recently added herbal care to her holistic nursing practice following an intensive course of study with internationally recognized nurse-herbalist, Martha Libster, PhD, RN.
Nurses have had a relationship with healing plants and used herbs in their practice of comfort and care for hundreds of years before the development of pharmaceutical drugs. It is only more recently, over the course of approximately 70 years, that modern nursing has come to depend on pharmaceuticals and has all but eliminated the use of plants in healing and caring practice. Herbs are increasingly being recognized as safe and gentle medicines that have a long history of successful use and Linda believes it is time nurses regain their herbal expertise. Herbs can be a valuable addition in the treatment of some of the most pressing health problems of today such as stress and pain management. Linda will be integrating various herbal treatments such as infusions, decoctions, foot baths, tinctures, compresses, poultices, and inhalations with her other holistic modalities.

InTandem Wellness works with clients to create a customized plan of care that includes a variety of holistic therapies including acupressure, health coaching, aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, Healing Touch, Reiki and guided imagery.
Linda is currently studying advanced herbal care with Dr. Libster and will be adding additional herbal remedies in the Spring.
