Winemaking Club Opens in Danbury

Shelter Rock Winery’s Winemaking Club has opened its doors in Danbury and is open to for those who wish to participate in the art and science of winemaking. Owner Giovanni Petretta’s intention is to teach the purity of natural sulfite-free winemaking and guide members through the process.

The Shelter Rock club concept is simple: a group of friends purchases grapes which arrive from Sonoma and other areas of California in the fall, then host a winemaking event where all have the chance to crush grapes, bottle, and label their product. During the event, participants enjoy samples of wine made from last year’s harvest of grapes from Petretta’s private label “Casa Petretta Cellars.”

A membership can be shared among six people, with each member receiving 46 to 48 bottles. The winemaking club will operate seasonally - from September through November - with choices of Cabernet, Merlot, Shiraz, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and more.

Location: 5 Shelter Rock Rd., Danbury, Building D. For more information For more information, email [email protected] or call 203-744-9488.
