Using Hypnosis to Access the Higher Self

Nov 03, 2014 05:47PM ● By Maria C. Castillo

The higher self is defined by Wikipedia as “an eternal, omnipotent, conscious and intelligent being, who is one’s real self.” It is also “an extension of the self to a more advanced and incorporeal realm.” Whether you believe that the higher self is the subconscious, the soul, the collective unconscious, or simply information from your DNA, it is the core of who you are. In connecting with one’s higher self, some believe you are connecting with the divine forces of the universe, of which we are all a part. The answers to issues, questions and problems can be found within our own selves: Who are you? What is your purpose in this life? Where are you going and how do you get there? This awareness of who you truly are as a spiritual being having an earthly existence in a human body can be reached through meditation, dreams, journeying and other practices and is not connected to any religion or belief system.

A young adult may consult her higher self to decide which college to attend. An older woman realizes what new career path she should pursue in her early retirement. A middle-aged man discovers the root of his gastrointestinal issues and how they relate to emotional matters. These are just a few of the ways that tapping in to your higher self can serve to speed up the process of healing or help people find direction in their lives.

Intuition and gut feelings are a glimpse of the knowledge within the higher self. Children are instinctively connected to this ability, however once began formal education begins, we are taught to rely on the conscious mind for information and look to those outside of us for answers. Some forget their ability to listen to the inner voice while others struggle to maintain the connection.

We sometimes have brief access to the higher mind when the conscious mind is “busy.” Have you ever driven on the highway from point A to point B yet don’t remember how you got there? You were in a trance. The conscious mind was “busy” driving the car and you were in that quiet, connected place where the thoughts are calm, all can be worked out easily and without judgment.

When hypnosis is used to quiet the conscious mind, one has access to the wisdom of the higher self in a comfortable, deeper way. In a deep trance state that can be reached through the guidance of a trained hypnotherapist, you can access information from the true self and answer your own questions. In conjunction with psychotherapy, this can be a speedy way to resolve problems and gain insight. Furthermore, an individual can learn self-hypnosis techniques to access the higher self on one’s own.

In a typical session, a deep trance is induced and the conscious mind, which judges, analyzes, and is fearful, recedes into the background. The calm, quiet higher mind is accessible. The client’s own questions which he or she brings to the session are presented. The individual has total recall of the experience and speaks during the experience. The therapist is merely a facilitator of the trance and records the person’s answers.

Using hypnosis for past life regression in combination with access to the higher self can also heal emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. Typically, at the end of the memory of the past life, you witness the death in that life. At that moment, connecting with the higher self can eliminate all residual effects from that life as it may be appearing in the current life.

Using hypnosis to access the higher self empowers people to find the answers within. With more direction, clarity and purpose, individuals can make decisions that will allow them to learn the lessons they proposed for themselves and accomplish their mission in this life. Let your inner wisdom guide you.
