Art Exhibition Supports Refugee Organizations

More than 50 international artists, reflecting five continents, will take an expansive look at identity and art in a global world in browngrotta arts’ 2019 Art in the Barn exhibition, Art + Identity: An International View, which will be held on May 3 from 7 to 9:30pm. There will also be a VIP tour from 6 to 7pm. The evening includes specialty cocktails and appetizers and the opportunity to buy, bid and bring home truly one-of-a-kind handcrafted items from the Our Woven Community program at the Burroughs Community Center.

For only 10 days a year, the public has a rare opportunity to visit one of the world’s most unique homes and galleries of fiber art right here in our community. Exhibiting art pieces sought after by collectors from around the world, the gallery owners have generously committed one evening to support an exclusive fundraising event.

All of the proceeds from this event will support two organizations: Our Woven Community (OWC) and The Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI). OWC is a program at the Burroughs Community Center that provides local resettled refugee women the opportunity to become self-sufficient leaders and become empowered with entrepreneurial skills and economic opportunity. CIRI is a nonprofit that helps refugees and immigrants resolve legal, economic, linguistic and social barriers so that they become self-sufficient, integrated and contributing members of the community.

Space is limited for the VIP tour, which will include an exclusive exhibit catalog ($50 value). For more information, call 203-334-0293. Location: browngrotta gallery, 276 Ridgefield Rd, Wilton.
