Natural Awakenings Fairfield & Southern Litchfield Counties

May 2019 Letter From Publisher

Nicole Miale

I enjoy spring because it is a time of rebirth, bloom and possibility. Everywhere you look, there are new buds and flowers, greener grass, butterflies, and even bugs emerging. It makes me feel good, and more hopeful, when I see such signs of renewal around me.

In this month’s Women’s Wellness edition, we consider this idea of blooming, specifically as it relates to feeling empowered as an individual. Unlike trees and flowers, as individuals we can bloom any time we want and anywhere we’re planted. However, our blossoming may require us to take some conscious action or reconnect with our inner guidance system.

How often do you check in with your Self?

Are you where you would like to be?

Have you fulfilled your goals and then created new ones?

Many of us begin with dreams that may be derailed along the way as we seek to achieve them, for a variety of reasons and through a multitude of mechanisms. But here’s the good news: no matter where you begin, you have the intentional ability it takes to manifest what holds meaning for you as an individual. It may take small steps over a long time to bring yourself to where you want to be. It may require slowing down and pausing before launching forward. It may simply mean placing self-care on your own ToDo list each day. No matter what you do to help yourself bloom, there is nothing more worth your energy. There are many tools available to support you; several excellent articles from local experts offer suggestions this month.

When I was in graduate school, I was particularly fascinated to become aware of and study the intersection of spirituality and health. I had no particular affinity for a single religion and to that point had little connection with spiritual matters at all, so investigating more spiritual and even mystical themes has been a revelation to me over the past decade. Many experts suggest that we are at the edge of a new age defined in part by the rebalancing of masculine and feminine energies. As part of this Women’s Wellness issue, we invited some local contributors to weigh in on related spiritual topics.

My wish for you this month is a blossoming of abundance, joy and blessings. May you receive more than you need and take a moment each day to appreciate all you already have. To our terrific advertisers, contributors, staff and readers, I send a huge THANK YOU! This comprehensive community resource would not be possible without each of you. You are appreciated and you empower us to do and be better each month.

With love and light,
