MLK Saratoga’s 2021 Dr. King Celebration Weekend

Annual event celebrating the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrating the arts and building community action.

Please join us for MLK Saratoga’s 6th Annual Dr. King Celebration Weekend, Friday, January 15, 2021 through Monday, January 18, 2021. This year’s theme is “Let’s Talk Saratoga! - Changing the Conversation.” The event lineup includes a series of conversations moderated by community leaders, clergy, activists, and experts. These thought-provoking discussions will include topics such as The Impact of Art in Activism, Systemic Racism & Our Saratoga Springs Police Department, and Protest.

Various community partners are spearheading events, including Yaddo and Northshire Bookstore presenting author Jewell Parker Rhodes (“Black Brother, Black Brother”), Shelters of Saratoga collaborating to present Creative Action Unlimited’s docudrama Shelter followed by a panel discussion on homelessness, and Caffe Lena live-streaming acclaimed singer-songwriter and regional favorite Reggie Harris. Monday is the national MLK Day of Service and community members are invited to participate in an array of at-home projects and activities to support neighbors, non-profits, and our community at large.

Please see mlksaratoga.org/celebration for complete event details and links. Registration is required for some programs with limited capacity.
