Natural Awakenings Fairfield & Southern Litchfield Counties

Opening Eyes to Winged Wonders

On the first Sunday of the month, December 6, Earthplace in Westport will host a bird-on-glove demonstration at 3pm where you can learn all about birds of prey. At the Winger Wonders event, naturalists will discuss the animals’ traits, behaviors and unique characteristics while the birds interact with their handlers.

Earthplace, based in Westport since 1958, has grown to include many resources such as a state-licensed preschool, a natural history museum, and Harbor Watch, a water quality research program. Earthplace’s sanctuary consists of 74 contiguous acres of open space that supports a variety of habitats and several miles of walking trails. The organization is also home to the live Birds of Prey Exhibit and the indoor Animal Hall for public viewing.
