Stratford Hosts 5th Annual International Yoga Day Festival

Join The Hindu Cultural Center of CT (HCC) in celebrating the sun, Summer Solstice, yoga and community at the 5th Annual International Yoga Day Festival. Held this year on June 21 and 22 in Stratford, the event will feature yoga classes of different varieties, plus drumming, dancing, Kirtan singing, vegetarian fare and more. 

On June 21, celebrate the Summer Solstice with yoga at Short Beach, Stratford from 6:15 to 8:30pm. After yoga, Team Maanudam drummers, singers and dancers perform. This will be followed by Kirtan singing around a bonfire. The event is free and open to all, sponsored by HCC and Friends of Short Beach, Stratford.

On June 22 from 8:30am to 3pm, celebrate International Yoga Day starting with 108 Sun Salutations. Following this, participants may sample yin yoga, partner/friend yoga, meditation, Remove Emotional Blocks workshop, yoga nidra and gong bath. After a healthy vegetarian lunch, there will be an Ayurvedic talk, an energetic Bollywood dance class and Kirtan. 

A tax deductible donation is requested and accepted on behalf of HCC for this event: $20 for adults, free for children under 12 and $15 for HCC members and yoga students. A yoga mat will be needed for both days.

HCC is a registered tax-exempt nonprofit religious and cultural organization that holds regular gentle yoga classes Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 9:30am.
