Not Your Granny’s Tea, an emerging specialty premium tea blender that officially launched in August 2018, has growing support from local followers. Not Your Granny’s Teas are distinct blends of minimally processed organic teas, flowers, herbs and premium farm-to-table CBD hemp flowers grown in the Pacific Northwest. 

For those unfamiliar with cannabidiol, or CBD, it is one of the many compounds found in the cannabis plant and has become increasingly popular for its myriad health benefits. CBD is not medical marijuana; unlike other compounds found in the plant, hemp-derived CBD is non-psychoactive—it will not make you high. 

“Not only do we use ingredients that you can identify—peek inside and you will find lavender flowers, ginger pieces, rolled green tea or fragrant Pu-erh tea—but they are sourced from farms that we feel good supporting,” says owner MK Lawson. A green tea comes from a woman-owned cooperative in Vietnam, the first-ever to attain UTZ certification for sustainable farming. The CBD comes from a family farm in Oregon; the entire farm closes when it’s harvest time.

Not Your Granny’s Tea has garnered loyal and mostly local followers in Fairfield County, with 80 percent of orders from repeat customers, who originally discovered the product through local farm fairs, holiday markets or word-of-mouth.
