Noted Meditation Master in Darien
Apr 15, 2011 01:45PM
Master meditation teacher Sally Kempton will teach a class in the Art of Tantric Meditation on the evening of Thursday, May 28 at Elements Yoga and Wellness Center in Darien. The tantric sages recognized that the physical and subtle bodies are hard-wired to give us the experience of spiritual awakening. A tantric approach to meditation specializes in practices leading to enlightenment, brilliant and powerful ways of entering the inner body, working with the mind and expanding the breath to reveal our divine nature. This class features practices from the Vijnana Bhairava, the core meditation manual of the Kashmiri Shaivite tradition, with each class exploring a different way of turning the ordinary into the subtle.
Just some of what you’ll learn are: centering yourself in the central channel of the body; powerful practices for transforming physical discomfort into energy and thoughts into light; meditations on space; the core attitudes that transform meditation practice, and open-eyed meditation for daily life.
Sally Durgananda Kempton, formerly a Swami in a Vedic tradition, is one of the most dynamic and innovative teachers in the country.
