Waldorf Education Spotlighted by CNN
Dr. Sanjay Gupta recently examined the Waldorf Education’s innovative, hands-on approach to learning in a CNN segment on the enrollment increase across the U.S. in these no-test, no-tech schools. The piece focused on how the schools work with different learning abilities and strengths, including auditory, visual and kinesthetic. The video can be viewed at TinyUrl.com/GuptaWaldorf.
Fairfield County is home to several schools based on the Waldorf Educationphilosophy, including the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School in Newtown. The learning theory is based on the ideas of educator, scientist and philosopher, Dr. Rudolf Steiner. At the core of the Waldorf philosophy is the conviction that education is an artistic process, and knowledge is best learned experientially as well as academically. The Waldorf Education movement currently has over 900 schools in 83 countries.
