Natural Awakenings Fairfield & Southern Litchfield Counties

Letter From Publisher October 2020

Sep 29, 2020 01:20PM ● By Erica Mills

It is bittersweet to announce that this is my last edition at the helm of Natural Awakenings Fairfield County/Housatonic Valley. There are many reasons, and the decision has been extremely difficult to make, but in the end the choice is simple. Over the past year I have been confronted with multiple major health challenges. Despite using many of the tools in my toolbox to address those challenges, it seems the journey is still going to be a long one, so I must give it my undivided attention for the foreseeable future. My new project will be my own health and healing, using everything I’ve learned over the past decade.

It is hard to put into words what publishing Natural Awakenings has meant to me. So much more than a “job,” the opportunity to lead this important community resource has been a source of joy, mind-blowing knowledge expansion and fantastic colleagues. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with so many amazing people...it is really hard to imagine not interacting with all of them on a regular basis in the weeks and months to come. But if there is anything we’ve all learned from 2020, it is to expect the unexpected and reach deep for the resources and inner strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other. In that way, one slow step (or leap) at a time, we’ll all wind up exactly where we’re supposed to be. I have had to accept in recent weeks that while I might wish otherwise, moving on from the magazine is where I’m supposed to be right now.

I have truly enjoyed the journey as publisher, getting to know so many of you in this terrific community and having the opportunity to showcase fabulous practitioners and products while inspiring, educating and informing our dedicated readers. The magazine franchise in Fairfield County is now available for immediate sale; see page 16 for more information about my journey with it and the exciting opportunity now presenting for someone else. So many people have expressed interest over the years...now is the time for someone to step up and take the reins or the magazine will disappear from the area.

It has been a true pleasure to work with and serve as a resource and connector for you these past years. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. It has been my honor and privilege.

Wishing you love, light and miracles for the rest of your vibrant days,

Nicole
