Veganism has been trending up in celebrity circles. For quite some time now, there have been dozens of recognizable figures in Hollywood and the wider world of entertainment who have embraced vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. According to a 2020 article at Forbes.com, sport is heading in the same direction, with athletes ranging from body-builder Patrik Baboumian to tennis star Venus Williams promoting the same lifestyles. Simply put, there are a lot of famous people these days who proudly call themselves vegans!

As this has become the case, we have also seen veganism on the rise in the U.S. in general. It’s fair to wonder if celebrity inspiration may play a role in this, or if celebrities are simply part of the bigger wave. Whatever the case though, the numbers don’t lie. According to a
Missouri Medicine study on plant-based diets, the number of Americans on vegan diets increased by 600% between 2014 and 2018. We also saw the size of the plant-based food market jump up by 29% between 2017 and 2019. Unmistakably, America now has more vegans, and more food for them to eat.

At the same time however, many who are either new to veganism or simply exploring the idea of it may not always know what to eat. We all have a vague idea of what a vegan idea entails, but most people don’t have practice pursuing such a diet until they actively decide to. So, to lend a hand to new vegans (or the vegan-curious), we thought we’d tap into that same growing collection of celebrities with plant-based preferences and pass along some of their favorite snacks and meals.

Here are some interesting suggestions.

Evanna Lynch: If you don’t know the name Evanna Lynch, chances are you’ve still seen some of her work. The professional actress rose to prominence with her brilliant portrayal of the quirky but essential Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films. More recently, she’s done voice work on the TV series Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and appeared as Paisley Robertson in the show Silent Witness. Lynch also works, however, as an animal rights activist and vegan advocate.

As for how she might influence your diet, an Evanna Lynch interview at TheBeet.com revealed that her favorite breakfast is a creamy banana smoothie. Lynch recommends one banana, a “handful” of blueberries, one tablespoon of flax seeds, oat milk, and Vivo vanilla protein powder. As Lynch puts it, this concoction will “make you want to get out of bed in the mornings.”
