In support of artists in Fairfield County and the surrounding area, iFloat, the east coast’s largest floatation center, is offering three complimentary float sessions in exchange for a float-inspired work of art. The art will be displayed and sold at iFloat. All proceeds will be donated to a local charity collectively chosen by participating artists. The program ends December 31.
Floating or floatation therapy is the process of being effortlessly suspended in warm water, due to a high concentration of Epsom salt. The chamber has no light and almost no sound. Isolating the mind and body from external stimulation slows the mind to theta and delta brain wave frequencies. Floating relieves stress, enhances creativity, and improves one’s overall wellness.
Many iFloat clients comment on how floating allows them to be in a slow state of mind they haven’t accessed in many years. “Recently, a client finished a ninety minute floating session and I asked him how it went,” says David Conneely, co-owner of iFloat. “He proceeded to recite a two minute poem filled with insight and imagery that seemed to surprise even him. When he finished he said, “That was my float.””
