Natural Awakenings Fairfield & Southern Litchfield Counties

Find Us Outside Introduces Nature-Based Preschool

FindUsOutside.Org has launched its new Forest Kinder School to help three to seven-year-olds acquire the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a world where change is constant and learning never stops.

“Our goal is to instill a love of learning through a nature immersion program. The vision is to build a holistic learning community that supports healthy growth for young children. We encourage each child to develop socially, emotionally and physically through play and nature education, guided by our skilled professionals who respect and enjoy working with children. They are required to have a combination of professional training and job experience,” says Director Nancy Schutts, who is also an educator at Forest Kinder School.

The school has a low student-to-teacher ratio with an average of one teacher for every four students. With its focus on the natural world, nature is brought into the indoor classroom while the wealth of materials in the forest and the changing seasons are part of the outdoor classroom. In addition, the school offers developmental experiences that allow the time for a successful transition into formal education.
